Windows to the Woods
Show Dates: April 6- May 5
Opening Reception: Fri, April 6, 6-8 pm
We are pleased host “Windows to the Woods” featuring local artists Tamara Gonda and Nancy French. This show features artists working in both sculpture and painting, and inspired by the natural world, the forest and the lyrical landscape.
Townsend, MA artist Nancy French uses found and salvaged materials such as wood, branches and bark to make sculptural art pieces. Trained as a traditional furniture maker at the North Bennett School, Nancy now uses those skills – along with using materials such as curly willow branches – to make exquisite wooden sculptures.
Pepperrell, MA artist Tamara Gonda creates contemporary landscapes in large format, using mediums of watercolor, encaustics and acrylics, all of which which express her many temperaments. The large “lyrical abstracts” she has created for this show are richly colored landscape-inspired images using rhythmic brush strokes and vibrant color.
In this joint show, the graceful curved lines of French’s wooden sculptures are perfect complement to the peaceful, vibrant wooded scenes of Gonda. “The scenic Hollis setting is the perfect place for this exhibit” says gallery owner KC Morgan.
